Pulp and paper companies Asia Pacific Resource International Limited (APRIL) and Asia Pulp & Paper Group (APP) obtained Sustainable Forest Management PEFC/IFCC. This forest certificate scheme resignation is the first time in Indonesia.
Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) or Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation (IFCC) would be gave to five companies from APRIL and two from APP.
Then more than 600 thousand hectares of Indonesia industrial plantation forest obtained certification. “The emerge of the IFCC, especially Indonesian sustainable forest management could be reached and international paper demand of forest product which is requiring sustainable forest management could be fulfilled then forest products are rising and employment are more opened,” Chairman of IFCC Drajad H Wibowo said in Jakarta, Monday (8/6).
He explained that the certification proves that Indonesia has managed its forest in a sustainable manner. All this time Indonesia is considered to be fail in maintaining forest by international market.
